TERADATA

TERADATA

Reaffirming Teradatas position as market leaders in the digital analytics and AI landscape.

I was a senior designer on this project and helped define the visual language of the new Teradata website. I was also an instrumental figure behind the creation of the design system.

The Brief

The Brief

Teradata were falling behind their competitors due to an uninspiring and aged online presence. Their flagship product VantageCloud is the number one product in the digital analytics and AI space for businesses but the website didn’t give it justice. They tasked the design team to reconsider the UX of the site, make fundamental changes to the IA and to produce a brand new look and feel for the website to re-establish Teradata as the market leaders in the space. Main deliverables were wireframes and UI for 10 key areas of the website.

The Process

The Process

We performed a heuristic evaluation of the existing site to understand the usability issues and changes to be implemented. We held stakeholder workshops to understand the product, the offering and the expertise and what the wants and needs were. From audits, we also realised the IA was way too convoluted and needed to be refined. As well as this, we discovered there were many accessibility issues and inconsistent use of visual elements. Using our insights, we produced wireframes and UI for 10 main areas of the website which we could use as a starting point to roll into other areas. We worked with the client in 2 week sprints to produce each area.

The Result

The Result

The end result of the project was a completely new digital look and feel for Teradata. We worked with branding giants Interbrand to ensure the new brand was reflected accurately in digital. The new look and feel reflected the ethos of Teradata - premium and simple. Because of the new UX and UI, a lot more emphasis was placed on the actual product offering from Teradata and a revised IA and new navigation meant finding content was easier than ever.

Design System

Design System

At the heart of this project lies the philosophy that less is more. The design revolves around a clean and unembellished aesthetic, utilizing a restrained color palette, generous white space, and simple typography. The concept is to create a serene digital environment that allows users to navigate effortlessly while focusing on the essential content.

In Conclusion

Since the rollout of the new website, Teradata recorded a 12% increase in sales of their flagship product. The design system ensured all design elements were coherent and the developers knew exactly how to build and implement components. Zach, PO at Teradata said the following:

"Thank you to the entire design team at W12, who launched this project with us and dedicated themselves to learning every facet of our business, our customers, and especially our own team dynamics. Marketers: Work with this group if you ever get the chance. Unbelievable talent and effort from such a fantastic group."
